SMGA MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE – MISSION
STATEMENT
(PURPOSE, RULES & PROCEDURES)
ARTICLE I – PURPOSE. The purpose of the Membership Committee is to:
1.
Promote
membership in the SMGA.
2.
Determine
eligibility for SMGA membership.
3.
Make
recommendations for membership suspensions and terminations for Board approval
by majority vote.
4.
Maintain an
accurate membership roster.
5.
Collect the
annual dues from members and deliver the monies to the SMGA Treasurer for
deposit into the general fund.
ARTICLE II – RULES.
Section 1. -
A SMGA member must be a male golfer in good standing with the community who (a)
has paid the annual membership dues (b) is accepted for membership by the
Membership Committee and (c) holds a current SMGA handicap or a temporary SMGA
handicap as established by the rules developed by the Handicap Committee.
Section 2. -
A current member of the SMGA must have his annual dues paid by April 7, 2007 to
remain a member in good standing. Any member who has not paid his annual dues
in full by that date will be allowed to participate in “The Game” Friday,
Saturday and Sunday golfing tournaments but he must pay the guest surcharge of
an additional $10.00 in addition to the $15.00 tournament fee. Any member
delinquent in payment of his annual dues will be ineligible to participate in
the monthly or year end golfing events sponsored by SMGA until his dues are
fully paid.
Section 3. -
Non-members of the SMGA are not eligible to participate in the SMGA monthly and
year end tournaments.
Section 4. -
Individuals desiring to join the SMGA must complete a SMGA Membership
Application and return it to the Summerfield Crossings Pro Shop with payment of
the full annual dues. The applicant will be granted immediate temporary
membership status pending a Membership Committee review of his application and
approval or rejection of permanent membership status. An applicant or member
whose unethical or unlawful behavior reflects unfavorably on the SMGA may have
his membership rejected, suspended or terminated.
ARTICLE III – PROCEDURES.
Section 1. –
The Membership Committee will promote membership into the SMGA by periodically
producing and posting material that will encourage golfers at the Club to join
the association.
Section 2. –
The Membership Committee will consider all requests for changes in eligibility
for SMGA membership and make recommendations to the Board, as it deems
appropriate.
Section 3. –
The Membership Committee will meet on an “as needed” basis to review
applications submitted for membership into the SMGA and vote on the acceptance
or rejection of new members.
Section 4. –
The Membership Committee will meet on an “as needed” basis to develop
recommendations for membership suspensions and terminations for the Board’s
consideration.
Section 5. –
The Membership Committee will develop and maintain a computer based record of the
association’s membership and member payments of their annual dues.
